BioCARS has three computers that are available for users to process data. These machines are running Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS on dual AMD Athlon(tm) MP 2800+ processors. Access to these machines is available from any of the floor computers.
- Log into any of the computers in the facility using the beamline specific username (userbmc, userbmd, or useridb) and the general password (look in the User Handbook in each station).
- Open an xterm and type "ssh bm14c5" (or "ssh id14b5" if using 14-ID) on the command line to connect to the corresponding processing computer. Alternatively, click on the "Connect to Processing Computers" icon on the desktop. Use the same password as above.
- Move into your data directory by typing "cd /net/bm14cxf/data/" (or "cd /net/id14bxf/data" if using 14-ID). Your group data directory should be visible in this directory.
- Run your program.
List of programs currently available on the processing computers can be found on the software page.
Some users have reported an xdisp version error when using the processing computers. This error occurs when you try to run the SGI version of xdisp while running denzo on the processing computers. To solve this problem, just open 2 xterms to the processing computers and run denzo in one window and xdisp in the other.
