Sample Imaging and Alignment

null

This instrument has an x-y translation table capable of positioning a load of up to 1000lbs (450 kgs) with an accuracy of about 10um and a precision of about 2um. The total range of motion is about 100mm in the vertical and 200mm in the horizontal.

To align the sample or a mirror moves in directly behind the entrance mirror of the flight tube – directing a parallax-free image to a telescopic microscope. The mirror is moved out of the way before a SAXS measurement is made.
