Autobk Home Page
AUTOBK is a program for the analysis of XAFS data. It removes the "background function" from a measured XAFS spectrum, using and automated algorithm based on the Fourier content of the XAFS spectrum The program is fairly easy to use, and allows a reasonable background to be determined with modest input from the user for nearly all XAFS spectra.
The current AUTOBK version is 2.93a, which represents
a partial merge with IFEFFIT.
AUTOBK is now included in the main IFEFFIT distribution, and is built and installed automatically
with IFEFFIT. It can also be downloaded separately.
The main changes for
AUTOBK compared to version 2.66 are
- conversion to fully double precision
- better support for files moved from Windows/Unix, which kills version 2.66, and is getting to be a more common problem.

The published reference for the AUTOBK algorithm is
Near-edge x-ray-absorption fine structure of Pb: A comparison of theory and experiment,IFEFFIT now contains all of the functionality of AUTOBK, and gives it a completely different interface. In many ways, the newer interface is better, but because many people are still using the old command-file-based AUTOBK, support for the older version will be maintained.
