GeoSoilEnviroCARS  is a synchrotron-based research facility at the Advanced Photon Source (right), Argonne, IL, dedicated to state-of-the-art research on earth materials and open to the entire scientific community.  The x-ray techniques being utilized include, but are not limited to: high pressure research with the laser-heated diamond anvil cell, high pressure research with the multi-anvil press, x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence microprobe, microtomography, microcrystallography, surface diffraction, inelastic scattering and powder diffraction.

This 795-page database includes (Part I) a comprehensive reference list on Art and Archaeology, Biomineralogy, Environmental Mineralogy and Geochemistry, High Pressure Mineralogy, Materials Science, Medical Mineralogy, and Oceanic Mineralogy.  Part II is an exhaustive reference list to publications documenting the crystal structures of known minerals.  This database is available here online for the first time by permission of the author.  Please send comments to Steve Sutton at (sutton@cars.uchicago.edu).
