XANES and XANES Analysis Questions

<<TableOfContents: Argument "maxdepth" must be an integer value, not "[maxdepth]">>

What XANES analysis methods are available with Ifeffit + Friends?

Currently, Ifeffit's XANES analysis capabilities consist of being able to model and fit a XANES spectra as a linear combination of different components.

The components can be derived from experimental data, theoretical calculations, or be simple mathematical functions.

The Sixpack GUI program has a very nice interface to these capabilities, and can also do Principle Component Analysis of different XANES spectra to identify the most important changes between data sets.

Athena has several capabilities useful to XANES analysis. It can do difference spectra (useful for XMCD as well as well as certain XANES applications). It has interfaces for fitting peak functions to the XANES spectra and for fitting linear combinations of standard spectra to an unknown XANES spectra. Athena also has a variety of options and parameters which effect the normalization of the data and which may prove useful when visualizing and analyzing your XANES data. Athena does not yet do PCA.
