Sample shipments to/from Argonne have separate requirements according to their status as hazardous or non-hazardous.
Non-Hazardous Materials
Non-hazardous samples -including dry shippers without liquid-, materials and tools may be shipped to Argonne, or transported by the user. Please contact your local Safety Office for assistance with proper shipping methods.

Let your CARS contact staff person know your dewar will arrive on the weekend or holiday so that a gate pass can be arranged for the delivery person. The shipment has to be sent to the Argonne Guest House, addressed to the user.

Hazardous Materials
Users are NOT allowed to bring/ship hazardous or infectious substances -substances identified as hazardous by DOT or IATA such as liquid nitrogen, propane, feon or ethane and biological samples that are identified as hazardous by DOT or CDC- directly to CARS. These substances have to be shipped to the address given below.
Under no circumstances may users transport a nonexempt hazardous or bio-hazardous material to the APS in their own vehicle. To have a hazardous material shipped to CARS, please inform the CARS staff user contact of shipment and address the package to:
